Wedding season

June 24, 2024

Love is in the Air! indeed the Love is in the Air. We have begun to have weddings and I am planning to officiate 3 and attend 1. It is very special to officiate a wedding ceremony, which is a worship to God, celebrating what God has done in saving them, growing them, and bring them together as a couple.

One thing I like to emphasize is that marriage will not be there in heaven (Matthew 22:30 At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage) but on earth. And one of the purpose of the marriage is to illustrate the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church as it is written in Ephesians 5:32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church.

So when we say “I do” to each other in a wedding ceremony, we are saying “yes” to this responsibility to illustrate the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church. This is a very important way that we can glorify God that through our marriage, we will be able to display God’s nature. What a privilege and honor that is. Marriage is way more than having a party and 2 people becoming one, but God orchestrating and directing the couple to be glorified. When this is understood and lived out, they will find satisfaction and fulfillment.

Two areas of marriage relationship is worth mentioning. Commnication and conflict resolutions are so vital to have a good marriage. We need to understand each other well through communication and we really need to pay utmost attention to each other to accomplish this. Also, the couple will have conflict and they need to have some tools to resolve them as they come. Again, conflict resolution is one of the way we can glorify God as Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. As you probably know that this is in the context of a conflict so as we resolve conflicts, we will glorify God.

Lastly, my daughter is getting married. This is a real blessing. The person she is marrying is a God fearing, Jesus loving person. I will not be officiating because we just want to be part of the wedding. If the officiant does not mention these important points, i will mention them during my speech because i want my daughter, my future son-in-law, family, and friends to know these very important truths.

Love is in the air and many people are getting married. May God receive maximum glory from our lives.
